"3-image Gouache Montage"
With this piece, the media was interesting to work with, and surprisingly much more attractive than water color. At least through my opinion. Random doesn't really exist for me, there is always something that corresponds with something else. It's crazy. However, this is the closest I could get to random and it actually works and no one can see the strings of similarities I created for it. When it comes to painting I love texture, and I feel with this piece the different textures represented throughout help create a flow for the viewers eye. The color throughout the piece also helps everything fit together, and makes the piece work as a whole.
"Book Cover: Claire de Lune"
With my book cover piece I wanted to use digital media to really grasp a softer and more solid color variation. The transitions of color with this piece really help bring out a modern look on a very classic, "man in the moon" image. I was also inspired by the title to create a flow-y/bubbly aura to the piece with the French title. I also like the slight contrast that the blues and yellows create.
"Life & Death"
I had a lot of fun with the life and death piece.. scary? Don't care. The paper texture was a bit of an issue, submerging water color paper in a cookie sheet of precious coffee was hard enough but to constantly flip it so it didn't stick, that was challenging. However, I'm really please with the outcome and when I started drawing the dandelions the marker played with the stained paper wonderfully!
"Society of Illustrators"
I would first like to say, every single project should be done in mechanical pencil, it is the best media ever and so much fun to work with and so not stressful at all! If you want an easy project, totally use graphite and a giant sheet of nice paper. Worth it. I am please with this piece, considering I didn't have a reference and I drew this out of nothing was fun, but I would like to nit pick a little more.. but I won't.. because pencil is too awesome. Just way too awesome.
